Hi, I’m Helena
(but feel free to call me Cucas)!
I’m a Portuguese UI Designer based in Barcelona, where I create meaningful and user-friendly digital experiences that seamlessly blend artistry with intuitive design.
My journey into design began with a deep love for art and storytelling, nurtured in my hometown of Porto, Portugal.
Encouraged by my mother, an urbanist architect, I grew up with a creative outlook on the world. This foundation, coupled with my early passion for drawing, painting, and graphic design, set me on a path to designing interfaces that unite beauty with functionality.
I started my career in graphic design, collaborating with cultural and musical organisations, before deciding in 2020 to specialise in digital design by completing a UX/UI course. At 27, I moved to Barcelona to pursue a Master’s in Digital User Experience Design at BAU, a transformative experience that taught me resilience, adaptability, and even a new language (I became fluent in Castellano within six months!).
Today, I’m proud to be part of Barcelona’s vibrant design community and volunteer with Ladies That UX, supporting women in tech and design. Outside of work, I draw inspiration from art galleries, music, cinema, and literature, all of which fuel my belief in storytelling as a way to connect with people, whether through interfaces or other creative mediums.
Let’s create something beautiful together!
